The committee was given responsibility for publishing the booklet by Eastman’s Plan 2020, the Eastman Community Association’s Strategic Plan adopted in 2012. Comprised of articles published in Eastman Living over the past several years, it is richly illustrated with photographs. Trails for hiking and waterways for paddling are described, with references to interesting flora and fauna to be found along the way. Descriptions of what used to be help us to appreciate how things have changed here over the years.
Twenty-two exploring possibilities, all but six within Eastman, are included. Some will be familiar, and others may suggest new experiences. Getting outdoors to enjoy our lakes, streams, and forests enhances our health and well-being as it is good exercise and a great stress reliever. Hopefully, the descriptions and history of the Eastman area’s magnificent natural resources will supply some motivation.
The booklets are available at the South Cove Activity Center and at The Center’s Golf and Ski Pro Shop for $5, which covers the cost of printing. Keep it handy as a source of inspiration and information for local outings. Visiting friends and family may appreciate having a copy as a remembrance of their stay in Eastman. Most of all, we hope that Exploring In and Around Eastman increases your appreciation of the beauty of Eastman.
A long-time contributor to Eastman Living magazine, Craig McArt authored or co-authored the 22 articles published in Exploring In and Around Eastman that first appeared in the magazine.
